5 Apps to Help You Keep Your New Year's Resolutions

The new year is finally here… Out with 2020, and here we come 2021 in full swing! If you’re like most right now, you probably have set a few ambitious resolutions for the new year. Maybe you want to exercise more? Maybe you want to learn more? Those are great resolutions! But, how are you going to achieve them?

While we can’t volunteer to keep everyone on track with their resolutions, we can suggest some great apps that can!

Resolution #1: Budget and Save Money

Ever wonder where all of your money goes? It’s time to stop wondering and actually come up with a financial future plan. You can do this with apps like Simplifi and Mint. Both are great for keeping track of spending, setting financial goals, budgeting and getting insights on how your money moves. You can start by creating a budget based on your income and bills to ensure you aren’t spending more than you’re bringing in each month. From there, you can monitor your spending and have a better idea of what you can spend and what you should cut back on. Make 2021 the year of saving!

Resolution #2: Get Into Shape

Most likely everyone has this goal on their resolution list. Year after year, this continues to be one of the most popular resolutions, but also one of the most abandoned come February. This year is your year to stick with it and luckily there are many apps to help. If your goal is to get into fitness more, Strava is the app for you. Not only does Strava record your runs and bicycle rides, but it creates a fun competition between you and people who travel the same routes. It syncs with a variety of other fitness trackers and running watches, so you don't need to carry a phone with you to use it. It’s a great way to get into shape and have fun while doing it.

Resolution #3: Feel Relaxed, Calm and Centered

These days, everyone is so busy that we actually need to plan out time to relax instead of just doing it. If you struggle with the thought of taking some time each day to relax, know that it’s perfectly normal and recommended to give your body and mind a break. If this sounds like you, you may want to check out Headspace. It offers meditation sessions that can last anywhere from two to 60 minutes and helps put your mind at ease. It will also send you reminders each day to make sure you don’t forget to take a break.

Resolution #4: Read More Books

When was the last time you curled up with a cozy blanket on the couch and read a book? For some of us, it’s safe to say it’s probably been awhile. But, that doesn’t mean that we don’t want to... This is where an app like Bookly comes in and saves the day!

The Bookly app is great if you want to read more books, track your reading, improve reading speed, develop a reading habit, track your stats and most importantly, have fun while reading! Once you finish a book, it will compile a reading report that can be generated into an infographic and shared with friends. Happy reading!

Resolution #5: Be More Productive and Organized

Does thinking about everything you have to do in 2021 seem a bit overwhelming? Don’t fret! Increasing productivity and getting organized can help check off those bigger tasks on your 2021 list. Trello is a wonderful management tool that's used for managing, organizing and sharing things like simple to-do’s and significant project management tasks. Setting up your Trello board is pretty easy. You have cards that represent tasks with deadlines and priorities assigned. The cards can also have checklists, files, pictures and hyperlinks. Once you’re finished with your task or card, all you have to do is drag it to the “done” section and we must say, it feels pretty good to be finished with that card.

New Year’s resolutions definitely require some time and dedication. Luckily, these apps and more make it easier to see your resolutions through. Good luck - your friends at Arnold Insurance are rooting for you!
