3 Overlooked Workplace Risks
June is National Safety Month and that means that the National Safety Council will be focusing on providing resources and education for worker-safety. Here are 3 workplace safety issues that you may not think of but that can play a big role in keeping a safe work environment.
1. Employee Fatigue
Employee fatigue can affect productivity and efficiency but it can also increase the risk of injury in the workplace.
Nearly half of all U.S. workers (43%) fail to obtain the recommended 7-9 hours of sleep each day.
About 13% of work injuries are attributable to sleep problems.
2. Ergonomics
Soft tissue and repetitive motion injuries in the workplace can impact dramatically affect an employee’s ability to continue to work safely. Injuries in this category are most often caused by:
Excessive lifting, lowering, pushing, pulling, reaching, or stretching
Repetitive motion
Working in awkward or strenuous positions
Sitting or standing for a prolonged period of time
Using excessive force
Vibration, creation on sharp corners or edges.
Extreme temperatures
