Taking on the task of shaping the minds of the future generation of our country is a hefty responsibility. And to say that teachers change lives is not an exaggeration by any means! We know and recognize that there are thousands of teachers all over our nation who give their hearts, minds and souls to nurture their students in the things they see as critical to their success, and important for their future. We encourage you to join us as we reflect on some of the characteristics that truly illustrate the importance of teachers in our country.
Strength
Overnight, the COVID-19 pandemic imposed a radical switch to remote learning on a national level. We all hoped that it would be temporary, but soon learned, the school closings would last indefinitely as the country coped with the largest severe worldwide public health crisis in recent history. Our country’s educators showed extreme resilience, strength, creativity and adaptability in the face of this crisis, continuing to invest in and educate their students remotely.
Guidance
We can all think back to a teacher we truly looked up to. Students will often approach their teachers to seek advice on everything from academic interests, to issues related to their personal lives. Teachers also serve as a sounding board for students’ thoughts on everything from historical events to deeper meanings on the subject matter taught in their classes. We are grateful for our educators as they serve as positive role models for the future generation, encouraging and guiding them on their journey to further their education and grow as individuals.
Dedication
Teaching can be an arduous, demanding job with complex responsibilities. Teaching requires consistent care, patience and hard work, and seeing that hard work pay off is not always immediate. The days may be long, but for those who have committed their lives to the profession, they are joining the ranks of some of the most important people in our nation.
